‘Gonna Catch a Fish’ – Oil on Paper

What a happy little kid out fishing on the ice with her or his wild companion. Gender doesn’t matter here, who doesn’t wish to be that child, right?

I had particular fun scraping the woods into shape with my palette knife and smiled so much, whilst delicately painting her/his adorable, bright smile with those glowing cheeks. What a beautiful contrast between the freezing cold tones of the ice below and the bright warm tones of the child, the fluffy feline and the lushes yellow ochre in the background. To finish it off I decided to compliment the artwork with a hand-made bamboo frame.

This is another piece from the collection ‘A Child’s Delight’. As you can tell I really wanted to capture children from all over the world to show how, no matter where in the world, there’ll always be one commonality….the playing of children.
